Astoria Art Mart was conceptualized by the artists of the Astoria Studio Collective, the studio spaces above the gallery at 1000 Duane Street. There are seventeen art studios on the upper floor and below in the basement. From top to bottom, the whole building is dedicated to making art, including swank haircuts at Frank's Barbershop, and delicious coffee at Cambium.

Most artists dream of designing spaces to present their work to the world. We envisioned an accessible space for local artists and craftspeople to feature their creations. We loved the idea of being at street-level and open all the time. We wanted a dynamic space to showcase our local community, a place filled items you can fall in love with and take home on the spot. A place that is enchanting wherever you put your eyes. We endeavored to feature up-and-coming artists, handmade items, along with professional fine art and original pieces.

Astoria Art Mart has been built by artists, and we've supported each other to get our work out into the world. For instance, an artist with retail experience has helped a painter market her prints. A local fine woodworker has contributed displays for the store. We have all shared our professional skills and resources to help each other along. We are so lucky to have such thoughtful, visionary people in our community. We all want to see each other succeed. We have gotten resoundingly positive feedback and are delighted at the community response.
